THE MASHROOMING PRIVATE SCHOOLS ---- nfdonline garissa
As Garissa town grows and expands away from the few public amenities planned to carter for those residing in the central part of the town.

New residents who recently resorted to join the municipal dwellers were in the mercy of private owned services.

The most notable services in Garissa are mushrooming elementary private schools which out perform public schools in the national examinations.

NFDONLINE visited AL - IBRAHIM academy in Garissa, the best primary school that topped the province in last year’s KCPE results. The school was started 2004 and offers integrated curriculum made of mingled Islamic and secular education.

This establishment mentors and equips youngsters with secondary equivalent certificate of Madarasa and a good grade of Kenya Primary Certificate.

The second and third best student in NEP came from AL-IBRAHIM Academy, while the best student came from Minara Academy. AL- IBRAHIM Academy enrolled 12 students for 2008 KCPE and all passed with the least attaining 357 marks out of 500 marks.  The second best student in the province Mohamed Deck Abdi attained 428 marks.

AL-IBRAHIM and Minara Academies forced the famous Getune and Garissa Academy to trounce back due to the spiritual madarasa learning services provided by these schools.

The so called millennium village, Dertu of Lagdera constituency will not contribute to the numbers making up form ones this year due to result cancellation.  Coming back to Garissa, Jaribu primary was the best public school with a mean grade of 301 marks. aden114@yahoo.com
